Ready to say yes to your voice?

anxiety inspiration singer tips Apr 22, 2025

I recently got this message from a singer:

“Singing used to bring me joy and then I stopped. I want to try to sing again.”

Can you relate to this?

I remember when I took a break from singing, how hard it was to start again once I was feeling that tug.

Where to even begin?

It felt a little like being lost in the woods, not having a compass, not knowing which way to head.

I also felt a lot of pressure about what it would mean, pressure to “sound good” and ultimately that didn’t inspire me to start.

But then, I received a call out of the blue from a composer I had worked with 10 years earlier.

He asked if I would be interested in looking at a song he had written and would I record it?

I really wasn’t sure, but I reluctantly agreed.

And then the song came in the mail.

The title was:

Start Singing.

Well, if that wasn’t a sign from the universe I don’t know what is.

So I did.

It was the gentle nudge I needed.

I started singing. Again.

Looking back on this time there are a few things I would wish for myself.

First, I wish someone could have told me to not feel bad about taking that break.

That break was necessary to develop a new relationship to my voice, to singing, to music, to performance.

And then when I was ready to sing again (in the perfect timing that it unfolded):

I wish I had had a specific kind of support for finding my voice again.

If you are nodding right now, I want you to know you are not alone and that there is that kind of support for you.

This is why I do what I do.

I currently have 3 offerings that will walk you through those steps of getting reacquainted with your voice again:

πŸ‘―‍♀️ My Monday Night Singing Group

🫢🏻 My Vocal Reconnect Mini Course

πŸ˜† and A Course in Joyful Singing.

All three are great options!

(And right now, for a limited time, if you join A Course in Joyful Singing, as a bundle you get all three. Find out more HERE)

But if you’re still here reading (hey thanks for being here!), I want to tell you a little more about Monday Night Singing.

This class originally began in March of 2020 when the world was shutting down. I wanted to create a inspiring gathering place for singers.

It became that supportive community and has been a regular monthly live occurrence ever since.

πŸ‘‰πŸ» It's a fun, safe space for those who love to sing, have a passion for music and want to start singing again.

πŸ‘‰πŸ» This group voice class is for Adult singers, beginner or advanced, all styles welcome.

The common denominator amongst us all in this class is our love (and sometimes complicated relationship) for singing, and our requirement for more JOY.

Guess what!?

There is one coming up on Monday April 28th.

We would love for you to join us that night if you are ready to take a small step forward with your voice.

You can join live, or watch the replay. You can stay on mute or you can share a song with the group. No pressure kind of situation.

WHAT THIS CLASS WILL COVER:

We explore warmups (especially SOVT ones!) and supportive practices in a safe, encouraging environment to unlock your voice so you can express yourself freely, authentically and joyfully.

We are all working at our own individual paces, with differing goals, but with all the encouragement you could hope for.

There is the opportunity to share a song if you feel called to do so.

Vocal technique, including warmups, and topics such as breath control, resonance, range, vocal health, song presentation, musicality, performance anxiety, tension & more are explored.

 IN ADDITION:

πŸ‘‰πŸ» This group class meets through zoom. All from the comfort of your own home.

πŸ‘‰πŸ» Bring a regular sized plastic or metal drinking straw and a cup of water.

πŸ‘‰πŸ» If you plan to share a song it’s best if your songs are self accompanied (ie guitar, piano, ukulele), use a karaoke track, or sung a cappella.

Ready to join us!? Register HERE.

I love this group SO MUCH. It’s life changing to have a community who sees you, hears you, supports you, and holds you in your goals/intentions.

One small step is all that is needed to take that step forward to saying yes to your voice. This isn’t about tackling the mountain in one one day, it’s about taking action with something that’s doable, fun and ultimately moving you forward to your goal of singing again.

We would love to have you!
